Gas Technician 3
About the Course
The starting point in your gas technician training. The Gas Technician program offered at the Niagara and Halton Skilled Trades Academies teaches the official TSSA curriculum, preparing students for the TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority) Gas Fitter 3 and Gas Fitter 2 licensing examinations. This course is delivered through classroom lectures and practical hands-on learning to provide the theory and application of each element of the course. Evaluation is conducted through written and practical assignments and tests.
The Niagara and Halton Skilled Trades Academies are TSSA approved examination centres for the G3 and G2 licensing examinations.
Gas Technician Diploma course is approved as a vocational program under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Career Description
Gas fitters (licensed Gas Technicians) install, inspect, repair and maintain gas lines and gas equipment. This equipment ranges from meters, regulators, heating units, fireplaces, residential appliances, commercial appliances and large scale equipment and appliances in industrial establishments.

Admission Requirements
Students must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or be at least 18 years of age and pass a Superintendent approved qualifying test (CAST exam).
Exams
The G3 exam is held at the Skilled Trades Academy campus.
