About the Course

The Ozone Depletion Prevention training course is the only method of obtaining your ODP Certification and Card. This course is for professionals who are involved in handling, storing, transporting, working with or disposing of refrigerants or similar substances used in the refrigeration processes. ODP certification is based on Environment Canada’s Code of Practice for Reducing CFC Emissions in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems. In this course you will learn about environmentally correct equipment design, proper handling of CFC/HCFC/HFC and you will be prepared to comply with provincial regulations that govern refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

This program does not require approval under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Accreditation

Participants who attend the one day course and successfully achieve a mark of 75% or better on the exam will be eligible to receive certification in the form of an ODP wallet size card. Cardholders must renew their certification every five years.

Regulatory Restrictions

Ontario Regulation 238/01 – You must have an Ozone Depletion Prevention Card to service and repair refrigeration equipment and to purchase and handle refrigerants.
